Krrish !! - the music is out

Another blockbuster movie I'm waiting to watch this summer is Krrish!! Directed by Rakesh Roshan and featuring his own son Hrithik as Krrish, this film is supposed to be or atleast looks to be like an Indian version of Superman or Batman or any other superhero movie. It would surely be unfair to actually compare this Bollywood movie with any of the Hollywood flicks. But basically, its the first time that a superhero is being introduced in a Bollywood film. Now what superpowers Krrish has got and whether he actually becomes a favorite among children, is something we all've got to wait and watch. But from the trailers, I can atleast see his capability to jump over buildings and bridges ...whoa !!

Anyways, today the music of Krrish is out on musicindiaonline.com. Click here to get to the page. The music is very much like Rajesh Roshan's previous albums. A dance number 'Dil Na Diya' sung by Kunal Ganjawala for Hrithik is my favorite as of now...but I've got to listen to the album a few times to pick my absolute favorite :) Till then, you can go and hear the music. Enjoyyyy....

Keep watching my blog for more updates on Krrish ...

33 not out...

Sachin Tendulkar......when I think of him, I think of this guy, with a very small stature, but at the same time a man with great stature !! That's Tendulkar for you in short. Having won innumerable awards, this person has earned respect for himself in the cricketing world. His sheer determination on the field and his supremacy in his profession...cricket ofcourse, has won him countless fans all over the world. Although, right now, he may be a bit out of form, I still am his fan just for all that he is....and all that he has done for Indian cricket.

Anyways, why am I all of a sudden writing about Tendlya ?? Well, he celebrated his b'day yesterday and turned 33. So, Happy B'day Sachin. Hope in as many years as u've got to give to Indian cricket, u score a whole lot of centuries and hope u can drive India to victory in 2007!!!

Century completed

A century ago, on this day, April 18, 1906, the residents of San Francisco experienced one of their worst nightmares......an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale. The 'Great San Francisco Earthquake' or the 'Great Fire' as it is popularly known, it was one of the most devastating earthquakes in California's history and resulted in an estimated loss of 3000 lives.

While reading about the SF quake today, I remembered my experience with earthquakes when one had struck Latur in late 1993 ( September i guess). We were almost getting ready to evacuate our house in the middle of the night when the tremors stopped. The next one was on 26 Jan 2001, India's republic day, at Bhuj. Well, this time I was in the bath :) and couldn't understand whether it was an earthquake or just me feeling giddy.

Anyways, with various ways to detect earthquakes and measure them, the question is, are we really safe today? In a country like the US, which is mostly ahead of other countries in terms of technological advances and innovations, how safe are we ?? In India, mostly buildings are built using bricks, but out here, the apartments, that atleast we students stay in, have wooden floors and hollow walls. Would they be able to sustain an earthquake?? What about the skyscrapers which are so prominent in the downtowns of any of the major cities?? And is the US of A an earthquake prone region ???

Well, I wouldn't be giving you the answers to these questions but you can read and analyse for yourself about the situation of the US currently. Check this article. After reading it, I wonder, that if this is the state in the US, then what about the buildings back home ???

Anyways, natural disasters can almost never be predicted but the after-effects are undoubtedly felt by all. On this day, I'd just pray that none of us ever get to experience a natural disaster and that there never are any !!! However, natural disasters are out of our control, but what we humans can do, is to reduce man-made disasters. One incident that immediately pops in my mind is the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, coz at the moment, some of the survivors have gone on a hunger-strike at New Delhi asking the Government for help and relief. Anyways, let's just wait and watch for the outcome.

As of now, I'd just say that there are many worse and bigger problems, than our daily ones, that we could face in our lives. So, its better to just live life as it comes without grumbling and keep smiling :) Remember,

Life is good, without it we'd all be dead.

They're back ...

Another tool has been created for all Google lovers: Google Calendar. According to an article that I read, Google has lots of hopes pinned on their latest product. With Google becoming one of the most prominent and widely used search engines, this is an attempt for them to shelve out of the 'Search Company' image. Secondly, they say that this product has many cool features which are not seen in most available online calendars. You can share your events with family members and others at your workplace easily. Adding events has never been easier with the possibility of adding an event only at the click of a mouse button. Anyways, the interface provides a direct link to Gmail and the Google search engine, and as seen in the pic above, has a Quick Add button. And as you can expect by now, a 'Search Calendar' feature is present as well. Haven't been exactly able to test it....however, I'll surely use the gCalendar to store all my friends' birthdays and other events. It better be working rite and since it is a Google product, I'm sure I can expect the best !!

Movie weekend !!

Last weekend, apart from working and getting worked up, I watched three movies. The first one was Weather Man...which should have been called the 'Loser'. Now why do i say that?? That's bcoz the main character in the movie, played by Nicolas Cage, is such a loser. He's just into the habit of self-reflection and everything that happens in his life frustrates him completely...so much so, that he keeps thinking and doing the things that one would never imagine. U keep expecting that something will happen in the end, but no..the movie just ends as it had started and by the end u actually wonder as to why u got the movie in the first place.

The next one was 'The Longest Yard'. A fun movie to watch starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. Mainly the movie is about how Adam Sandler, an ex-football player, goes into prison and forms his own team there to play against the guards of the prison. The characters are 'physically' funny and that's what makes u laugh and like the movie.

Lastly, I saw 'Dodgeball'. Ben Stiller is shown so macho in this movie...that one would actually feel sick and stop going to the gymn. Vince Vaughn is good in the character of 'Peter Le Fleur'. Again this movie has some really funny characters and good jokes. A movie which u should watch keeping your brains aside.

Gtalk has updated !!!

Yesterday night, while working on my laptop I suddenly got disconnected from Gtalk. I was actually wondering as to why I got logged out automatically ?? Did the google servers go down. Anyways, when I signed in again, I was excited to see a completely new Gtalk. It had image thumbnails next to every name. I was given the option of selecting a picture for myself from their very animated list (shown above) or add my own picture. Also, the theme of displaying messages can be changed depending on one's preference by going to Settings > Appearance. There are various themes with or without accompanying images such as Bubble image, Ping Pong Image, Classic Image, Swiss Image etc.

Well, just when the world begins to wonder what's happening at Google, they come up with something new for its very loyal users. Last week, one of my friends sent me the link of Google romance: google.com/romance . Its a kind of a dating site wherein you can find partners to date. There were some steps listed of how to find the right partner. I'm not in need of one rite now...but if you are, then do visit the site and let me know if it worked. The concept is a bit western though...so if you're Indian....think abt ur traditions before taking any step...hehehe..lol!!

Anyways, hope Google keeps giving its users new innovations always!! Long Live Google!!

Orkut....keep connecting

First there was the telegram, then postal mail, then with the advent of the internet came e-mail, with further technological advances came IM (instant messaging) and now if all that was not enuff.....man made Orkut. U have to be a member of this site to actually believe what its allowing you to do. In the past few months, I've kinda got addicted to it and now, if checking my mail umpteen times a day was not enough, along with that I even get into my orkut account to see how many scraps I've got.

Scrapping has kinda become a cult on this website, with scraps moving around so quickly at times, that the service actually gives u the speed of IM. One of the main differences between the two however, is that on orkut u don't need to set a status and no one else can see whether u r online or not. Another difference, which is actually the essence of orkut according to me, is that u can access the friend lists of other users and read their scraps (believe me this one's a good timepass). Now, since anyone is free to read ur scraps, u must be careful about what you type in there...you don't want some unknown person questioning you about something confidential...i guess, that's why they say its a scrap....something which is of no use to anyone.

However, the former is one of the main features of orkut. By getting access to other people's friend lists, I have found so many of my junior college and school friends on this site...I never even imagined I wud be getting in touch with them...this site has no doubt made the world a smaller place, atleast on the internet. And getting into orkut is pretty simple....all you need is a gmail account. And logging in after that...well, that's the easiest because once u start connecting with some of ur good ol' friends, u'll not even have to make an attempt to type in www.orkut.com.......it will come naturally to you.

Now, I see two ways in which this site can be used in the future :
1. Can be used in the future as a replacement for shaadi.com :)...wot with every user creating a profile for himself/herself and putting in pictures for other users to view.
2. Can be used by some maniacs to bother innocent users like me and you. One thing to avoid this I'd say, is just don't enter too many personal details in there.

Watever be it, I'm not yet aware of any harmful incidents occuring due to orkut and I'm sure that as of now, more and more ppl are saying: 'Thanks for creating orkut'. Its helped me connect with my friends, I hope it keeps on doing so in the future and I hope you too get a similar experience with this site. So, to keep connecting....and be connected with the outside world....visit orkut !!!

Things work out ....

Because it rains when we wish it wouldn't,
Because men do what they often shouldn't,
Because crops fail, and plans go wrong-
Some of us grumble all day long.
But somehow, in spite of the care and doubt,
It seems at last that things work out.

Because we lose where we hoped to gain,
Because we suffer a little pain,
Because we must work when we'd like to play-
Some of us whimper along life's way.
But somehow, as day always follows the night,
Most of our troubles work out all right.

Because we cannot forever smile,
Because we must trudge in the dust awhile,
Because we think that the way is long-
Some of us whimper that life's all wrong.
But somehow we live and our sky grows bright,
And everything seems to work out all right.

So bend to your trouble and meet your care,
For the clouds must break, and the sky grow fair.
Let the rain come down, as it must and will,
But keep on working and hoping still.
For in spite of the grumblers who stand about,
Somehow, it seems, all things work out.

fanaa

“teri dil mein meri saanson ko panaah mil jaye
teri ishq mein meri jaan fanaa ho jaye”

Yes, the first promo of one of the most awaited movies of Bollywood, Fanaa (meaning 'destroyed' in love) is out. I being a big fan of Kajol, Aamir and Yashraj movies, I'm hoping and pretty sure that this one's going to be a treat for everyone to watch. The cast, director (Kunal Kohli of 'Hum Tum' fame) and now, the promo have raised my expectations even higher. Slated for a May 2006 release, this definitely is one movie I'm looking forward to this summer. You can watch the promo here. The music release is scheduled for April 12 and after hearing 'Subhanallah' in the promo, I'm just waiting to hear the songs on raaga or musicindiaonline. Finally, I can't keep away from saying 'Kajol's voice and smile is mesmerizing !! I'm glad she's back..' :)
